The marketing communications team formulates strategies that best fit each client's immediate and future needs, develops, manages, and executes integrated digital and social campaigns, in-person and online events, websites, monthly reporting and much more.

The Marketing Specialist plays a key role in the development and implementation of marketing programs such as inbound and outbound communications, brand identity, website and other launch efforts, while ensuring ongoing services are aligned with the client's strategic priorities and budget. This position reports to the Marketing Director while also working closely with the Vice President of Marketing.

This position will be working full-time out of our Ottawa, ON, CA office.

  • Support in the development of short- and long-term customized strategic marketing communications plans for clients
  • Provide recommendations on alternative marketing strategies for optimum ROI
  • Identify, prioritize, and project manage marketing activities across multiple clients
  • Manage branding elements and work with outside vendors
  • Execute online integrated marketing programs for promotion of activities (including emails, social media, paid advertising, google ad words, and more)
  • Research, write and edit copy marketing collateral and websites for clients
  • Develop promotional emails to drive attendance at training sessions, webinars, tradeshows, and events (including copy editing and design)
  • Monthly reporting on client efforts (successes, opportunities for improvement, etc.) with the intent to provide recommendations for growth
  • Collaborate with other departments such as finance, PR, events, client services and IT to make sure client's marketing goals and objectives are being met across the board
  • Work with the Director, Marketing Communications and the Vice President, Marketing Communications on marketing-related business development for existing and prospectus clients
  • Manage client contact databases, segmenting for specific communications and utilizing A/B testing when appropriate
  • Lead client calls, manage agenda and action items, serve as a primary person of contact
  • Utilize project management tools (Wrike) to run programs from start to finish, and ensure items are being completed and run smoothly

As our next Marketing Specialist, you will bring:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing Communications/Journalism preferred; MBA is a plus
  • 5-8 years of professional experience in marketing communications
  • 2-3 years agency or association experience preferred
  • Computer proficiency, specifically with Microsoft Office Suite, PMO tools, Marketing Automation tools, Google Analytics Reporting, Word Press and Social Media platforms
  • High level of energy and creativity with a "roll up your sleeves" working style
  • Thinking outside of the box and coming up with new ways to streamline everyday workflows 
  • Ability to operate in a remote environment and with teams located in other offices
  • Experience reporting within email marketing platforms, social media platforms, and analytics platforms 
  • Detail-oriented with problem solving and time-management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Must be able to work well under pressure, and work independently as a strong team player
  • Staff management experience preferred
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed
  • Must be able to show proof of vaccination and meet applicable travel and/or client requirements.
